Mt Jo

The next day, after partying until 4 am (I was really trying to mimic the altitude conditions where many people have hard time sleeping), we set off to conquer Mt. Jo. In perfect conditions in between the rain the mountain smelled wonderful and the trail was great... quite steep and rocky, it lifts you up to the higherEr ground in a blink.

Beginning of the trail...

Whiteface Mountain - May 18

The challenge is on! Having just over three months to get into the top shape of my life these days I am not missing on opportunity to work on my endurance, especially if there is a mountain in sight (considering that I live in a mountain-deprived zone in Southern Ontario). The "Steleks Reunion" in Lake Placid was a great opportunity to climb up Whiteface Mountain with Deba, Meca, Srle and Cvele.  We started at Connery Pond, walked to the Whiteface Landing and up the steep southern side of Whiteface, over the rugged terrain and massive boulders that made for a decent challenge all the way to the top.

From the top the views are amazing! Especially this one with Lake Placid in the background.

See that lake in the top picture? This picture is taken at the beginning of the hike when we were all the way down there!! This is Lake Placid btw...
My hiking companions... Cvele, Meca, me and Srle on the way to Whiteface Landing where the challenge begins!

Preparation is everything!

Immediately after the idea of climbing Kili became my reality, I emailed my friend Boris (see World of Boris) asking if he'd care to join me and minutes later he responded with 'Let's do it!'. Tons of research led us to choose ClimbKili as our Kili tour operator. Their safety and success record was great and they seemed well organized and reliable. They also instructed us to start a serious workout to get us ready for this adventure. Soon, the welcome package followed and with the new hat on I am ready to get on with it!
